tHE START OF SOMETHING NEW & UNKNOWN
I thought I didn’t like Greek yogurt. It is bitter, and the texture is quite different than the yogurt I am used to. Add in a handful of granola, chia seeds, drizzle with honey, I even added slices of banana. It was mind blowingly delicious! Even my two-year-old macks down on it with me. Toast with some peanut butter, sliced banana and some honey drizzle, sprinkled with chia seeds is another great snack to enjoy that is full of protein! With this, I am focusing my family meals on protein specifically, keeping in mind the other important nutrients our bodies need and want! Changing ones diet is quite a large task, specially making sure you stick to it. When you add in feeding two children and even your spouse, toss in ADHD, severe depression and anxiety, it is rather difficult to maintain motivation to prep and cook these meals.
Combining high protein meals throughout the day and brief activities would make all the difference in the world! But how do you start! Where do we find the answers we’re looking for? As we know, the world is becoming something frightful! The food they are feeding us, processed meats and other "toxic" ingredients such as GMOs. are sending a chain reaction through our bodies and minds. Something has got to change!
This is going to be the beginning of a new dawn, bringing light to my life as well as those around me whom I care deeply for. It is going to be a difficult uphill battle, but I am preparing myself with research as well as well-informed individuals to allow for better success along this journey to having a better, healthier and happier lifestyle. I am over feeling the way that I have been feeling for so long, severe depression, anxiety, recently diagnoses with ADHD, always feeling sluggish and overwhelmed with daily life that I felt everyone around me was able to handle. I am determined to make a difference and to set my family up for success.
First things first, recognize what I am consuming daily. Keep track of my intake and learning how to read nutrition labels. Learning what nutrients our bodies demand and the quantity in which we need to consume said nutrients. Then finding ways to consume the same delicious meals, just with better ingredients. Eventually, having my own garden with fresh fruits and vegetables, my own chickens for fresh eggs, and even a cow for fresh milk to make my own butter, cheese and other items to change the foods we consume regularly that are full of toxic ingredients causing disease and malnutrition.
In the end of it all, my family and I will be eating more pure, healthy diets and participating in regular physical activities so that we may enjoy the fruits of our labor longer. Changing the lifestyle of those around me for longevity. Encouraging change in the world around us and becoming a more unified community. These are all important parts to my ideal plan, and it all starts with me, and the food I am choosing to eat and feed to my family.
